Sexual Assault Arrest
On May 1, 2014 at approximately 10:15 p.m. the Ledyard Police Department culminated an investigation into a criminal complaint involving the inappropriate touching of an adult female victim outside a residence in Ledyard with an arrest. Elvin Rodriguez DOB 04/11/1989 with a LKA of 33 Donahue Drive Norwich was taken into custody after an arrest warrant stemming from this investigation was issued. Rodriguez was charged with Sexual Assault 4th degree and held on a court set $75,000 bond. He will be presented at GA 10 New London on May 2, 2014.
Child Pornography Arrest
On December 13, 2013 the Ledyard Police Department and the Ledyard Resident State Trooper initiated an investigation into the discovery of questionable photographs on a computer by IT personnel of Ledyard Public Schools. The discovery had been made after a technology paraprofessional employed at the Ledyard Center School had ended his employment with the school district.
While the Ledyard Police Department continued its investigation, the computer was submitted to the Connecticut State Police Forensic Laboratory for examination. Upon completion of the Forensic Examination, an arrest warrant was applied for and secured for the arrest of Webster H. Holland, DOB 05/27/1960, formally of Ledyard.
On May 9, 2014 Holland was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography 1st Degree. Holland was held on $50,000 bond and will be arraigned at GA 10 New London.
The Ledyard Police Department continues to work closely with Administration of the Ledyard Public Schools to ensure the safety of all students.
Reckless Endangerment Arrest
On May 10, 2014 at approximately 8:05 p.m. the Ledyard Police Department received the report of a parked vehicle being struck by a pellet gun from a vehicle traveling on Pumpkin Hill Road. The victim, having observed this, contacted the police and followed the vehicle. Once stopped, a juvenile passenger fled the vehicle while the operator was taken into custody. A track utilizing a State Police K9 located the juvenile a short distance away. As a result, Mathew Moore DOB 11/18/1995 of 526 River Road in Lisbon, Connecticut was charged with Weapons in a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Breach of Peace, and Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree. He was released on $1,000 bond with a court date of May 23, 2014 at GA 10 New London. A 17 year old juvenile was charged with the same offenses and is scheduled to appear at Juvenile Court in Waterford.
1-Vehicle Accident
On May 25, 2014 at approximately 1:01 am, the Ledyard Police Department initiated an investigation into a motor vehicle accident occurring on Route 12, at its intersection of Long Cove Road in Gales Ferry. As a result of the accident, a 2005 Acura operating southbound on Route 12 traveled from the roadway, through a utility pole, ending up submerged in a swimming pool at a Baldwin Hill Road address.
Responding Officers quickly entered the pool to remove two children, aged 2 and 4, from within the vehicle. Officers then assisted in freeing the vehicle operator. The 2-year old passenger in the vehicle was transported to the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, and later transferred to Yale New Haven hospital, for the treatment of a serious arm injury. The 4-year old was transported to the Lawrence and Memorial hospital and was treated and released.
The vehicle operator, Marcus Harvin DOB 07/23/1988 of Brittany Farms Road in New Britain was transported to the Lawrence & Memorial hospital for the treatment of injuries. Harvin has been charged by the Ledyard Police Department with Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Obey an Officers Signal. He will be arraigned at GA 10 New London on June 10, 2014.
The accident remains under investigation by the Ledyard Police Department Patrol Division and Accident Reconstruction Team, and Connecticut State Police CARS Unit. The Connecticut State Police and Groton Town Police Department also assisted at this accident scene.
As a result of this accident, Route 12 remained closed for an extended period of time while utility pole replacement took place.

Burglary Arrest
On May 30, 2014 at approximately 12:07 p.m., the Ledyard Police Department received a 911 call from a witness who had observed an individual flee from inside of a vacant home on Route 12 in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard. The fleeing individual entered a vehicle parked in an adjacent driveway and fled on Route 12, but not before the alert witness was able to capture a photograph of the vehicle as it left.
Arriving Officers found that the individual had entered through the rear of the home and was in the process of removing copper piping when he fled. The Ledyard Police Department was able to track down the vehicle owner, then ultimately the individual who had been using the vehicle. As a result, Anibal Rosado DOB 07/18/1983 of 1388 North Road Groton, Connecticut was located and arrested in Gales Ferry. Rosado was charged with burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Attempt to Commit Larceny 6th Degree, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned at GA 10 in New London on June 18, 2014.
