Commercial Burglary
On November 10, 2013 at approximately 4:40 a.m. the Ledyard Police Department was notified of a commercial burglar alarm activation at the Ledyard Farms Store, located on Route 12 in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard. At the same time, the Ledyard Police Department also received the report from a passerby of a suspicious male outside of another business located on Route 12.

On arrival of Officers It was determined that a burglary had occurred at Ledyard Farms in which the front door was smashed and entry gained. During the course of the crime cigarettes were taken. After further investigation It was also determined that the suspicious male was responsible for the commercial burglary. As a result, Mikhail Arroyo DOB 02/15/1994 of 574 Ashford Center Road Ashford, Connecticut was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Larceny 3rd Degree. He was processed and released on bond with a court date of November 25, 2013 at GA 10 in New London.

Structure Fire
On November 14, 2013 at approximately 1512 hours the Ledyard Emergency Communications Center received reports of a structure on fire in the area of 592 Lantern Hill Road in Ledyard, near the North Stonington Town line. Firefighters from the Ledyard, Gales Ferry, and North Stonington Fire Departments and the Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad responded, along with Officers from the Ledyard Police Department.

 When Officers arrived they found that a garage and outbuilding were fully involved in fire, at which point mutual aid tankers were requested to assist, as well as a FAST/RIT team from the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department. Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control, limiting damage to the garage and an outbuilding. Damage also occurred to a vehicle parked in the driveway. There were no injuries to any residents or emergency responders. The cause of this fire remains under investigation by the Ledyard Police Department and the Ledyard Fire Marshal.

Larceny Arrest
On August 16, 2013 the Ledyard Police Department initiated an investigation into items being stolen from a home on Town Farm Road in Ledyard. Through this investigation, it was determined that an item which was stolen from the home had been pawned at a local pawn shop. Based on this, an arrest warrant was applied for and granted for Samuel H Moreno DOB 03/14/1994 of 201 Old Colchester Road Salem, Connecticut.

On November 20, 2013 a Montville Police Officer stopped a vehicle being operated by Samuel H Moreno. At the time of stop, Moreno provided the Montville Officer with another name in an attempt to avoid being identified. Ultimately investigation determined Moreno's identity and he was placed under arrest by Montville for criminal impersonation and motor vehicle charges. The Ledyard Police Department charged Moreno with Larceny 6th degree for his involvement in the Town Farm Road theft. He will be arraigned at GA 21 on the motor vehicle charges and GA 10 on the Larceny charge. This crime remains under investigation and it is hoped that additional arrests occur.

Fire Investigation
On November 30, 2013 at 2114 hours the Ledyard Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls indicating a fire involving vehicles in the driveway at 14 Parkwood Drive in Gales Ferry, Connecticut. The Gales Ferry Fire Department, Ledyard Fire Department, Ledyard Police Department, and Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad responded. Arriving firefighters found the two vehicles and a portion of the house involved in fire. At the time of this fire, no one was at the residence and no injuries occurred. The origin and cause of this fire remains under investigation by the Ledyard Fire Marshal, Ledyard Police Department, and the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Unit.
