Robbery Arrest
On May 1, 2013 Officers from the Ledyard Police Department traveled to Allentown, Pennsylvania to perform an extradition of an individual involved in a October 19, 2012 armed robbery which occurred off of Indiantown Road in Ledyard. Based upon an arrest warrant held by the Ledyard Police Department, David B. Dixon Jr DOB 06/19/1989 of no certain address, was taken into custody by the Lehigh County Pennsylvania Sheriffs Department.
After waiving extradition, he was transported to Connecticut and charged with Robbery 1st Degree (3 counts), Use of a firearm in a felony, Criminal possession of a firearm, Streetrangulation 2nd Degree, Threatening 2nd Degree, Larceny 3rd Degree.
Investigation into this crime continues and addition arrests are expected. In addition to the Ledyard charges, Dixon was also charged with Failure to appear in court 1st Degree, and Failure to appear in court 2nd Degree (3 counts) for warrants held by the City of Groton Police Department, Waterford Police Department, Norwich Police Department, and Connecticut Streetate Police Casino Unit. Dixon will be presented at GA 10 in New London on May 2, 2013.
Car Versus Bicycle Accident
On May 31, 2013 at 0815 hours a bicycle versus vehicle crashed occurred on Route 12 at the entrance to Dunkin Donuts in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard. The Ledyard Police Department, Gales Ferry Fire Department, Ledyard Fire Department, Submarine Base Ambulance, and Lawrence & Memorial Hospital Paramedics responded.
A bicycle being operated on Route 12 by Thomas H Leise DOB 01-29-1958 of Tunnel Hill Road in Lisbon and a 2008 Chevy Tahoe being operated on Route 12 by Kenneth Carrion DOB 02-09-1979 of Route 12 in Groton collided, causing serious injury to Leise, who was transported to the WW Backus Hospital in Norwich.
The cause of this accident is being investigated by Accident Reconstructionists with the Ledyard Police Department. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Sergeant Scott Petersen of the Ledyard Police Department at 860-464-6400.
