Burglary Arrests
On December 20, 2012 the Ledyard Police initiated an investigation into 2 burglaries in the Town of Ledyard. One was a residential burglary into a vacant home during which copper piping was taken, and another was a burglary into a building at the Ledyard Sportsman Club in which money was taken.

On February 15, 2013 the Ledyard Police Department arrested Jeffery Chapman DOB 04/03/1977 of 72 Noyes Avenue in Pawcatuck, Connecticut with the assistance of the Stonington Police Department, and charged him with 2 Counts of Burglary in the 3rd degree, 2 counts of Larceny 6th degree, and Criminal Mischief 2nd degree. Chapman was held and presented at GA 10 in New London.

On March 12, 2013 the Ledyard Police Department, with the assistance of the Westerly and Hopkington Rhode Island Police Departments, arrested James Taylor DOB 07/13/1977 of 23 Newton Street in Westerly on an arrest warrant for Conspiracy to commit Larceny 6th degree and Conspiracy to commit Burglary 3rd degree in connection to the vacant house burglary. Taylor was held by the Westerly Police Department on numerous warrants held in Rhode Island. He will be presented at GA 10 in New London upon his release from Rhode Island.

Burglary Arrest
On March 22, 2013 the Ledyard Police Department arrested Francisco Ramirez DOB 02/18/1991 of 7 Barry Drive in Gales Ferry, Connecticut on an arrest warrant charging him with Burglary 3rd Degree, Use of a vehicle without owners permission, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. This arrest stems from an incident in which Ramirez entered another home on Barry Drive on two occasions and removed the homeowners vehicle, returning it after. Ramirez will be presented at GA 10 New London.

Possible Attempted Burglary
On March 25, 2013 at approximately 11:30 a.m. a resident of Shewville Road in Ledyard between Gallup Hill and Whitford Road contacted the Ledyard Police Department regarding a suspicious male who had approached her home. The female resident stated that she observed the male standing below a window in front her residence to the side of the front door. When he was confronted, he stated he was looking for a gas station and left. A short time later it was noticed that the screen on the window near where the male was observed had been partially cut. Anyone who may have observed suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact the Ledyard Police Department at 860-464-6400.

Burglary Investigation
On March 25, 2013 at approximately 2:45 p.m. the Ledyard Police Department received the report of a burglary which had occurred into an unoccupied residence on Avery Hill Road in Ledyard. The Ledyard Police Department responded and found that entry had been made through a side window and multiple items were stolen from within the home. A track utilizing a Ledyard Police K9 and canvass was conducted. Prior to this incident another Avery Hill Road resident reports having a male come to her front door who, after noticing the television on, left operating a blue pick up truck which was possibly a Ford. ** Burglary Suspect Updated Information**
Based upon information received from two other residences this male approached, we have an updated description on both the male and vehicle.

The vehicle is reported to be a Blue Ford F150 early 2000 model possibly with Rhode Island or Massachusetts plates. The male who approached the homes is described as a white male, mid 20s to 30, approximately 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches, thin build (approximately 160 pounds) with long brown hair and wearing a baseball hat.

At both residences he indicated that he was lost after leaving Foxwoods and was looking for I95. One caller indicated that the vehicle was observed driving by their home 3 times before stopping. At one location, the male entered the passenger side of the vehicle and a 2nd person was observed inside the vehicle.
