Larceny Arrest
In July of 2012 the Ledyard Police Department began an investigation into a complaint of employee theft of approximately $4,800 having occurred from the Gales Ferry Dunkin Donuts on Route 12. At the culmination of this investigation an arrest warrant was applied for, and granted, for the accused in this case. On October 3, 2012 the Ledyard Police Department served that arrest warrant at GA 10 in New London. Belinda M Colon DOB 10/01/1969, currently in custody at the York Correctional Center ,was charged with Larceny 3rd degree and presented at GA 10 for arraignment.

Seeking Witnesses to Route 12 Accident
On October 14, 2012 at 1115 hours the Ledyard Police Department responded to a two car motor vehicle accident occurring on Route 12 at Christy Hill Road in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard. In this accident, which resulted in no injuries, a 1997 Land Rover driven by Glenn Eckmyre DOB 03/11/1952 of 16 Palmer Drive in Gales Ferry and a 2007 Honda Pilot driven by Sandra Chester DOB 02/19/1968 collided. As part of its investigation into the cause of this accident, the Ledyard Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed it to contact Officer Eric Bushor at 860-464-6400.

Armed Robbery
On October 19, 2012 at 0038 hours the Ledyard Police Department received the report of a possible armed robbery having occurred at the end of Crocker Hill Road in Ledyard. Ledyard Police Officers and State Police Troopers responded and began to investigate, and search for the suspect vehicle. Other area Police Agencies were notified of the vehicle description and assisted with this search. Through investigation it was learned that the victim(s) and suspect were known to each other and had planned to meet. After meeting ,the victim(s) report that the 2 accused's stole a large sum of money from them at gunpoint and fled the area.The Ledyard Police Department has significant leads in the case and continues to investigate.

Vehicle Roll Over
On October 26, 2012 at approximately 1057 hours the Ledyard Police Department was notified of a 1-vehicle roll over accident with the driver entrapped in the vehicle on Pumpkin Hill Road. The Ledyard Fire Department, Gales Ferry Fire Department, Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad, and Mohegan Tribal Paramedic responded along with the Ledyard Police Department. Based upon extended extrication, Life Star was requested and responded to the scene. The Old Mystic Fire Department assisted with establishing a landing zone on Deer Lane.

Once extricated,Jessica Houde DOB 11/03/1990 of 38 Meetinghouse Lane in Ledyard was transported to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence by Life Star. The cause of this accident remains under investigation by the Ledyard Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team.
