Risk of Injury to Minor
On August 11, 2012 at approximately 9:30PM an Officer from the Mashantucket Tribal Police Department located a toddler wandering in the roadway on Fanning Rd in Ledyard. The Ledyard Police Department was notified and responded to investigate. Investigation led Officers to the home at which the toddler lived, but no one was found to be home. After approximately two hours the mother was located at her workplace. She originally stated that a relative was supposed to be watching the 3 year old child, but recanted that story after that relative was located. The mother, Courtney Y. Richard age 27 of 55 Fanning Rd Ledyard, CT was arrested and charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor and Falsely Reporting an Incident/False Statement. She was held on a $10,000 bond and will be arraigned at GA 10 in New London. A referral was made to the Department of Children & Families who placed the child with his father.
Threatening with a firearm
On August 19, 2012 at approximately 5:13 pm the Ledyard Police Department received two 911 calls indicating a disturbance was occurring in the area of Shewville and Whitford Roads in Ledyard. Responding Officers learned that an involved vehicle had left the scene with witnesses reporting that its operator had pointed a rifle at several people near that intersection. A short time later a Ledyard Police Officer located the accused vehicle on Pumpkin Hill Rd in Ledyard and the individual was taken into custody without incident. An unloaded rifle was located inside of the vehicle. As a result of this investigation, Brendon T. Richmond DOB 04/27/1992 of 9 Vinegar Hill Rd in Gales Ferry was charged with Reckless Endangerment, Risk of Injury to a Minor, Reckless Driving, and Threatening. He was held on $10,000 bond and will be presented at GA 10 in New London.
Vehicle versus utility pole accident
On August 23, 2012 at 1pm the Ledyard Police Department received multiple 911 calls indicating that a vehicle had struck a utility pole on Pumpkin Hill Rd near Lambtown Rd in Ledyard. Responding Ledyard Police Officers found that a 2011 Toyota Camry operated by William Idarola 04/20/1947 of Baltic, CT had struck a pole with the vehicle sustaining heavy damage. Based on investigation, Idarola was charged with Operating Under the Influence, failure to maintain insurance, failure to drive right and will appear at GA 10 in New London.
