Motorcycle Crash
On June 10, 2012 at 6:28 p.m. the Ledyard Police Department received a 911 call reporting a motorcycle crash on Route 214 (Stoddards Warf Road) at the intersection with Avery Hill Road. Responders found a single motorcycle, a 1998 Harley Davidson, crashed in the roadway, along with its operator. David M Oterson DOB 12-16-1959 of 6 Grandview Terrace in Vernon, Connecticut was found to have received multiple injuries and was transported to the WW Backus Hospital in Norwich by the Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad. The Ledyard Fire Department, Gales Ferry Fire Department, and American Ambulance paramedic also responded.

Evading Vehicle Accident
On June 26, 2012 at 0845 hours the Ledyard Police Department was notified that a 2-vehicle accident had occurred on Whalehead Road near its intersection with Sandy Hollow Road, in which 1 vehicle fled the scene. The Ledyard Police Department responded along with the Ledyard Fire Department, due to a fluid spill. As a result of the accident no injury occurred to the remaining operator Tammy Donovan DOB 02-25-67 of 34 Pheasant Run Drive in Gales Ferry or her passenger.
Investigation eventually located the vehicle which fled approximately 1/2 mile into the woods off the end of Fawn Drive with no operator. A track was conducted utilizing a Ledyard Police K9 which tracked into the Groton Reservoir property and out onto Sandy Hollow Road. Investigation revealed that the vehicle which evaded the accident had been stolen from an Iron Street residence. The Ledyard Police Department continues to investigate this incident and anyone with information is asked to contact the Ledyard Police Department at 860-464-6400.
