Suspicious Vehicle Leads To Drug Arrest
On December 12, 2011 at approximately 0024 hours a Ledyard Police Officer on patrol observed an occupied vehicle in the parking lot of the Gales Ferry School. Investigation revealed that the vehicle was occupied by 4 individuals from the State of Massachusetts and also revealed the presence of marijuana, packaging material, and scales.
As a result, Sandy Saleh DOB 10/30/1980 of 19 Brenton Street in Boston, Massachusetts was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell, Possession of Marijuana within 1500 feet of a school, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Saleh was processed and held on a $2,500 bond and will be arraigned at GA 10 in New London.
Vehicle Strikes Gales Ferry Church
On December 18, 2011 the Ledyard Police Department received the report of a vehicle having struck Saint David's Church on Route 214 in Gales Ferry. The Ledyard Police Department, the Gales Ferry Fire Company, and the Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad responded to find 2 passengers who were in the vehicle that struck the church reporting minor injury. Further investigation found that prior to striking the building, the vehicle had struck a parked car in the Saint David's parking lot. The impact with the building caused minor damage to the structure and no injury to anyone inside. The vehicle, a 2000 Ford Ranger was operated by Eli Morton DOB 11-19-92 of 29 Virginia Ave in Groton, Connecticut. The cause of this accident remains under investigation.
