Missing Elderly Male
The Ledyard Police Department is attempting to locate Richard Schuerch DOB 11/29/1929 Of Gales Ferry. He left home at 11 a.m. this morning (August 4, 2011) operating a 2004 Buick Century color tan with Connecticut registration WA 8098, telling his wife he was going for a ride, and has not returned.
Information has been developed that he may have been in the Branford, Connecticut area just after 6 p.m. this evening. Schuerch suffers from alzheimers and dementia. He is a white male with blue eyes and grey hair. He is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue Nike t-shirt, faded blue jeans, docker boat shoes, a blue baseball hat and a silver and gold wedding band on his right hand along with a matching watch.
Anyone who sees Schuerch or his vehicle is asked to contact their local Police Department.

Mr. Schuerch has been located unharmed in the State of Pennsylvania.
Vehicle Accident
On August 7, 2011 at 0935 hours the Ledyard Police Department, Ledyard Fire Company #1, Mashantucket Fire Department, and American Ambulance responded to a motor vehicle accident on Shewville Road in the vicinity of Town Farm Road. Responders found a 2003 Toyota Sienna had impacted a tree and the operator, Susan Fetzer DOB 08/21/1957 of Lancaster, Massachusetts, was still in the vehicle. The damage sustained by the vehicle required extrication by Fire Department crews to remove the operator, who was transported to the W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich for non-serious injuries. Based upon investigation into this accident, Fetzer was cited for traveling too fast for conditions and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
Vehicle Accident - Investigation of Injuries
On August 21, 2011 at 2:04 p.m. the Ledyard Police Department received a 911 call from a passerby reporting that an adult male was under a vehicle in the driveway of a residence on Meetinghouse Lane and appeared to be injured. Officers from the Ledyard Police Department responded, along with the Ledyard Fire Company, Gales Ferry Fire Department, Mashantucket Fire Department, and American Ambulance. The individual was transported by American Ambulance to the WW Backus Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The Ledyard Police Department Patrol and Detective Division, as well as the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad responded and conducted an investigation into the origin of those injuries. This incident currently remains under investigation.
