Armed Robbery
On June 14, 2011 at approximately 11:47 p.m. the Ledyard Police Department received a 911 call reporting that a taxi driver had been the victim of an armed robbery in the area of Fanning and Gonch Farm Roads in Ledyard. The driver reports that two black males brandished a firearm during this robbery and fled the cab. Ledyard and State Police responded, along with K9 units which searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects. This investigation continues by members of the Ledyard Police Detective Division and Detectives with the Eastern District Major Crime Squad. Motor Vehicle Accident With Multiple Injuries
On June 27, 2011 at approximately 11:33 p.m. the Ledyard Police Department received the report of a vehicle accident involving a utility pole on Route 12 at Long Cove Road. Arriving Officers found 2 vehicles involved with multiple occupants reporting injuries,as well as significant damage to a CL&P pole.

A vehicle traveling Northbound on Route 12 driven by Alvin D Williams (1/4/1966) of New London was struck by a vehicle entering Route 12 from Long Cove Road, operated by Ariadana Roman (1/3/1972) of Gales Ferry.

The Gales Ferry Fire Company, Submarine Base Fire Department, Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad, American Ambulance, Poquetanuck Fire Department Ambulance, and Mohegan Tribal Paramedic, along with Officers from the Ledyard Police Department responded. A total of 8 patients were transported to both the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and WW Backus Hospital for the treatment of injuries, none of which are life threatening.

This accident remains under investigation. The repair of this utility pole is expected to take most of the day and night to complete. As a result, traffic may be effected at certain times.
