Vehicle versus Utlity Pole Accident
On May 17, 2010, at approximately 1230 p.m., the Ledyard Police Department was notified of a 1-car motor vehicle accident versus utility pole on Route 12 in Gales Ferry near the Preston Town line. Responders found a 2004 Chevy Malibu traveling north on Route 12 had struck a utility pole injuring 3 of its occupants. The vehicle operator, Reginald R. Cloutier (date of birth February 2, 1992) of 545 Boswell Avenue in Norwich and a 17-year-old passenger from the rear seat were transported to the WW Backus Hospital for treatment of their injuries by the Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad and Poquetanuck Ambulance. A 7-month-old child restrained in a car seat was also transported for evaluation. A front seat passenger, Destiny Hillyer (date of birth May 7, 1992) required extensive extrication by the Gales Ferry and Ledyard Fire Companies from the vehicle and was transported to the Backus Hospital by American Ambulance. The accident remains under investigation by Ledyard Police accident reconstructionists within the patrol division.

Larceny Arrest
On May 27, 2010, at approximately 0242 hours, a Ledyard Police Officer on routine patrol observed a pick up truck parked in a suspicious manner on Route 12 near Stoneybrook Road in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard. The truck was unoccupied and as the officer began to investigate, an individual emerged from the adjacent wooded area. Further investigation revealed that the homeowner had several kayaks located on his property, 2 of which had been moved towards the parked truck. As a result, Anthony L. Signorella (date of birth July 22, 1979) of 532 Boswell Avenue in Norwich, Connecticut, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of criminal attempt to commit larceny in the 5th degree and criminal trespass in the 3rd degree. He was processed and will appear at GA 10 New London on June 10, 2010.
