Sexual Assault Investigation Arrest

On July 6, 2009, McCormick turned himself in to Ledyard Police Detectives at Troop E, where he was arrested by warrant and charged with the above listed crimes. The arrest relates to an investigation which was initiated on May 26, 2009. The warrant alleges that between April 2006 and October 2007, McCormick had sexual contact with an underage victim.

McCormick was held on $250,000 bond and was presented in New London Superior Court on July 6, 2009. The investigation remains active and no additional information is available for release at this time.

Residential Burglary Investigation
On July 20, 2009, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a resident found that their home, located on Lantern Hill Road near White Pine Road in Ledyard, had been entered while they were not home. Patrol officers and detectives from the Ledyard Police Department responded and found that entry had been forced into the residence and numerous items stolen. The crime scene was processed for forensic evidence and the investigation into this crime is ongoing, including any possible relation to similar burglaries occurring in adjacent Towns. Suspicious Vehicle Leads to Drug Arrest
On July 21, 2009, at approximately 0243 hours, a Ledyard Police Officer on Patrol observed a vehicle running at the Glacial Park located on Whalehead Road in the Gales Ferry section of town. Upon seeing the officer, the vehicle attempted to leave. The vehicle was stopped just outside the park and investigation led to the arrest of the vehicle passenger, a 17-year-old youthful offender, for the charge of possession of marijuana with intent to sell. The arrestee was processed and released with a scheduled court date at GA 10 New London.

Drunk Driving Crash
On July 27, 2009, at 0114 hours, the Ledyard Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle crash having occurred on Route 12 in the vicinity of the Preston town line. On arrival, the Ledyard Police Department found a 2008 Dodge Caliber with damage. Further investigation found that the vehicle had struck an area just south of the bridge and resulted in the arrest of the vehicles operator, Ryan Brown (date of birth December 27, 1987) of 2 Ramblewood Road in Gales Ferry, for the charge of driving while under the influence and failure to drive right. He was processed and released with a court date at GA 10 New London.
