Plan of Conservation & Development

Overview


The Plan of Conservation and Development (PDF) is required under Connecticut General Statutes Chapter 126 Section 8-23 and, according to the statutes, is to show “the Commission’s recommendation for the most desirable use of the land within the municipality…and for the most desirable density of population…” It is an advisory document utilized by the Planning and Zoning Commissions as well as all other town boards and commissions.

Plan Information

This Plan of Conservation and Development builds on previous plans adopted in 1965, 1972, 1982, and 1993 and considers input from the public and members of the following:
  • Conservation Commission
  • Economic Development Commission
  • Historic District Commission
  • Inland Wetlands and Watercourse Commission
  • Planning Commission
  • Water Pollution Control Authority
  • Zoning Commission
It is intended to continue the tradition of guided growth, land use and development within the Town of Ledyard.

Plan Adoption

The current plan was approved and went into effect in February 2020.
