Capital Improvement Program

Overview

The Mayor’s Capital Improvement Program identifies and describes municipal capital projects recommended for funding each fiscal year and is submitted annually to the Town Council and residents.

Mayor's Responsibility

Pursuant to Chapter VII, Section III  of the Town Charter (PDF), the Mayor has the responsibility of proposing a program of capital projects for the ensuing fiscal year and 5 fiscal years thereafter.

Committee

A Capital Budget Committee meets to review capital projects submitted to the Mayor via the Planning Office and makes an initial recommendation to the Mayor based on an established methodology.

Planning Commission

This program is simultaneously referred to the Planning Commission pursuant to Chapter 126, Section 8-24 of the Connecticut General Statutes for a report or approval.
